Web Design Prices :: Modern businesses know that they can’t be legitimate until they have an online presence. When evaluating the cost of building/updating a website you should consider the many factors that determine the price of the overall project. Having a website built can be confusing and you may not know where to start, how much it should cost or even what type of website best suits your needs.

In the UK and abroad, different design agencies and professionals will have varying rates, so it’s a good idea to become familiar with the various stages of website design and the associated costs.

Web Design

Web design is a service, not a product

Looking at your website build as a service will help you understand why it is difficult to put a single price to it.

There is a lot of planning and detail involved

Price will depend on the level of detail and time spent on various features.

Quotes are subjective

You could potentially receive a quote from £1,000 all the way up to £50,000 for the same project requirements from different companies – a Web Agency will charge a lot more than a Freelancer. I keep my costs low and pass that on to my clients

*All quotes are ball-park figures. Please note, there is also a £50/Month Maintenance Fee.

Who will you choose to build your first website? I am a freelancer so I only charge £30/hour – this is a lot cheaper than if you went to a bigger agency. You should bear in mind that each choice has its own pros and cons:

  • Web Design Agency: Clunky & Cumbersome – most won’t build a site for less than £10k.
  • Freelance Developer: More personalised service, cheaper and the client is a priority.

The above figures are ‘ball-park’ guides – as in, I have a lot of experience building websites and these are the prices taken to build the sites I have already created.

If you are needing a redesign of an existing site then it will be about the same price as the building of a Medium sized site.
